My interest in hair styling was first realized in high school when I joined a salon as a receptionist. I was fascinated by the process of formulating color and creating shapes in hair with cutting techniques. During my time in college at San Francisco State I explored a number of career options, but always felt the pull and passion for styling hair. I made good on that calling (once my parents relented) and after cosmetology school I did an intensive apprentice program at Edward’s Salon in Mill Valley, CA. The thing I really love about my job is making each client happy. Translating your expectations (in your own words, please don’t worry about technical terms!) into the look you want gives me the greatest joy. I think of my job as a collaborative process between myself and my client. My personal hair philosophy is to go as closely with what your hair wants to do as possible; the less you fight your hair, the less it will fight you. I like to create styles and colors that look amazing with as little effort for you as possible. (Who wants to spend an hour fussing with their hair every morning, am I right?) I personally have thick, curly, dark hair, so I definitely understand the struggle of that hair type, but over the past 12 years I have worked with the finest to the thickest, and the lightest to the darkest hair, and I feel very comfortable doing so. I enjoy doing timeless color that you won’t look back on and say “what was I thinking?!” Fleeting trends, while I love looking at them, are not my “thing” behind the chair. I have also worn my hair from pixie length to my current long locks and I still absolutely love cutting short hair (including men’s!), but understand the “don’t take my length” mentality of the long-haired folks. Covering grey is a strong suit, as well as natural, low-maintenance highlights and bright reds. If you’re still unsure about booking an appointment with me, just book a consultation- I’d love to chat with you about your goals and ideas. Outside of the salon I am working on a Pilates teacher training and love movement and exercise. You may also see me around walking my corgi mix, Dexter, or dining and drinking at all the yummy spots around Midtown and East Sac. I look forward to meeting you soon!
